OverDrive for Kindle Users

To Check Out a Library E-Book for Kindle:

1. Visit our Digital Collection page.
2. Browse and check out a Kindle book.  Make sure to download the title in the correct format - only those titles specifically labeled "Kindle book" are compatible. 
3. Click the "Get for Kindle" button.  This opens the Amazon.com website.  You may be required to sign in with the Amazon account tied to your device/app.
4. In the Manage Your Kindle area, go to the "deliver to" dropdown menu and select your device/app.  You can also choose to send it to your device via USB.
5. Click the "Get Library Book" button and sync your device.  The e-book will appear on your home screen.
6. Enjoy!

NOTE:  An active Wi-Fi connection (not 3G) is required for wireless delivery to a Kindle device.  If your Kindle is not Wi-Fi capable or you do not have an active Wi-Fi connection, see below for instructions for transferring files to your Kindle via USB.

Transferring Files Via USB

1. Download the file to your computer (step 4 above).  Note the location.
2. Plug your Kindle into your computer using the USB cable.  When connected, your Kindle will go into USB drive mode and you will not be able to use the device.  Your wireless service is temporarily shut off and you will not receive any of your subscriptions while in this mode.
3. Double-click to open the Kindle drive in the start menu under "Computer" (or My Computer for Windows XP).  For Mac users, the drive will appear on the desktop.
4. Locate your downloaded file and move (drag and drop) it into the "Documents" folder in your Kindle drive.
5. Safely eject your Kindle from your computer, then unplug the USB cable.  The file you transferred will now appear on the Kindle home screen.
6. Enjoy!
