About The Friends of the East Greenbush Community Library
Who We Are: The Friends of East Greenbush Community Library is an organization of people of all ages whose mission is to create broad support in the community for the East Greenbush Community Library as a major and expanding cultural resource. The Friends give a voice to the message that the library and its many services are a vital part of our community. We also have a Junior Friends of the Library (Jr. Friends) for 13- to 19-year-olds. They meet monthly at the library to discuss ways that teens can raise money for the library and to arrange for volunteers to work at library events. Annual dues cost $1.00 per teen.
What We Do: With funds raised from Friends membership dues and through our volunteer-run book sales, we help to enhance programs and services that the library can offer. The Friends also have book bags on sale, for $10.00, at the Circulation Desk of the library. In recent years, the Friends have donated money from their fundraising activities to purchase a variety of books, CDs, DVDs, computer equipment, and museum passes, as well as funding many concerts and children's programs. The Friends continue to be a much-needed and valuable resource for the library.
