The Friends of East Greenbush Community Library is an organization whose mission
is to create broad support in the community for the East Greenbush Community
Library as a major and expanding cultural resource. Membership is $5.00
for individuals and $10.00 for a family. Membership applications
are available at the library or can be
printed
here.
Your membership and donation, both of which are tax deductible, will be
acknowledged by a letter in the Fall.
Active participation in the Friends activities is encouraged but not
required.
Donations in addition to the membership fee are welcome and
encouraged. They will be added to the proceeds from the semi-annual
book sale and the sale of book bags. The book
sales occur twice a year in the spring and fall. The Friends now sponsor a
Children's Festival and Book Sale in early fall with books/materials and
programs just for children and families. Books & AV materials for the sales may be left
at the library at any time. All proceeds are donated to the library for
deserving projects.
In recent years the Friends have donated money to purchase a
variety of books, CDs, DVDs, and computer equipment, as well as funded classical
concerts and children's programs. They donated a total of $25,627.20 in 2004 and
continue to be a much-needed and valuable resource for the library.
The Friends meet five times a year on the 3rd
Tuesday of the month in February, April, June, September, and November at 6:30
P.M. New members are encouraged to join and become a part of this important and
appreciated community group.
