Reference USA A comprehensive directory of business and residential telephone numbers and addresses. Search by name, company name, geographic area or zip code. Find out company size, top personnel, year established, type of business, credit rating, yearly sales ranges and more.
Thomson Gale LegalForms Provides a wide selection of state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms across the most popular legal areas. Includes real estate contracts, wills, pre-marital agreements, bankruptcy, divorce, landlord tenant and many others. Also included is a comprehensive attorney state directory and a dictionary of legal definitions explained in laymen's language.
ProQuest Platinum Periodicals covering a broad range of material: business, education, general reference, health, language arts, sciences, social sciences, and many other curriculum-specific subject areas. Grolier Online (includes Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, and the New Book of Knowledge) Includes access to the Encyclopedia Americana, New Book of Knowledge and Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia as well as Roget's II: The New Thesaurus and the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition.  Encyclopedia articles include links to further readings, a bibliography, selected full text articles, web page links, and links to related Encyclopedia Americana articles.   The Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia includes encyclopedia articles, news, timelines, quizzes and games, and research starters. It also includes an atlas and dictionary. Articles can be grouped by lexile level and are aligned to standards. The New Book of Knowledge is for middle grade students and includes literary selections, a timeline, projects and experiments, news, homework help and more.

Congressional Quarterly The CQ Researcher Online is the award-winning choice of researchers seeking original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. East Greenbush or Schodack library card required for access.
Custom Newspapers This full-text newspaper database lets you search newspapers electronically by title, headline, date, author, or section. Includes 9 newspapers from NewYork State. (Supported by the NOVEL project.)
National Newspaper Index National Newspaper Index provides quick access to the indexing of America's top five newspapers in one seamless search: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. (Supported by the NOVEL project.
New York State Newspapers Search this database of ten major newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post. (Supported by the NOVEL project.)
Times Union Contains most locally written stories published since 1986. Headlines and summaries can be viewed for no charge. Your public library has a special arrangement with the Times Union to view full stories on-site in the library, though not from home or office. Please ask a librarian for assistance. (In library use only, not available from home or office.)
Some databases are provided by the New York State Library. NOVEL is an online virtual library connecting New Yorkers to 21st century information via local libraries statewide. NOVEL is currently supported with temporary federal Library Services and Technology Act funds. New Century Libraries is an important statewide funding initiative currently before the Legislature that proposes permanent state funding for NOVEL.

Many of these databases are available to member libraries of the Upper Hudson Library System, through the generous support of its Central Library - the Albany Public Library.
